Pro at $20 is the paid entry point. Teams Standard is $40/user/month ($32 annual equivalent), while Premium is $120/user/month ($96 annual equivalent) for 5x Standard usage. Cursor pricing works when the team will use it as a managed agent workspace, not just as another autocomplete seat. For a team, price the $40/month Standard or $120/month Premium seat first, then model the separate per-user usage pools, on-demand continuation, and Auto routing exposure. Every Auto request is billed at the routed model's list price; third-party requests also add Cursor's Token Rate.

Good fit for

Engineering teams that will regularly use the Agents Window, local-cloud handoff, shared MCP workflows, or Design Mode strongly enough to justify premium seat cost.

Consider alternatives for

You mainly need cheaper broad developer coverage and do not expect premium multi-agent workflow depth or self-hosted security advantages to become normal.

Questions to resolve before approving a budget

When is Cursor Teams worth the premium over GitHub Copilot Business?
Cursor Teams is worth it when the team will actually use Cursor 3's multi-agent workflow depth, local-cloud handoff, or shared MCP and marketplace setup rather than only wanting broad coding coverage. If the daily behavior still looks like standard coding assistance, Copilot Business stays easier to defend financially, especially because Cursor Teams usage is allocated per user unless the buyer moves to Enterprise pooled usage.
Can Cursor's Auto router increase spend beyond the seat price?
Yes. Current Cursor documentation says every Auto mode bills at the list price of the model selected for each request. Third-party requests also carry Cursor's $0.25-per-million-token Token Rate. Use per-user spending limits and inspect the separate Cursor Models and Other Models pools before treating an agent-heavy workflow as a fixed-seat program.
Does Cursor 3 change who should buy Pro+ or Ultra?
Yes. Cursor now explicitly recommends Pro+ for daily agent users and Ultra for power users, which makes the heavy-user ladder clearer than before. Those plans make more sense once one person is running enough parallel or long-lived agent work that the base Pro tier becomes a bottleneck.
Are self-hosted cloud agents a reason to budget for Cursor Enterprise?
They can be. Self-hosted cloud agents matter when the team wants cloud-agent execution speed but must keep code, secrets, and build outputs inside its own network. That is a real buying distinction versus cheaper tools that are easier to approve only because they ask less of the environment.
Is the free Cursor tier enough for evaluation?
It is enough to validate the interface and general workflow feel, but not enough to model sustained team usage or the economics of agent-heavy development. You need at least Pro or Teams to see whether the workflow depth really pays back.
When is a Cursor Teams annual commitment worth it?
Use an annual commitment only after the team has shown stable, recurring need for the workspace. Cursor publishes Standard at $32/user/month annually versus $40 monthly, and Premium at $96 versus $120. The discount does not remove usage governance: each paid seat has its own pools, and on-demand use can continue after those pools are consumed.
